MCI
Media Ltd has pleasure in hosting the
3rd International Ports & the Environment
Seminar 2010.
Scheduled
to take place in Amsterdam in December 2010, the one-day seminar will deliver a varied,
in-depth and informative programme, ensuring delegates an invaluable learning
opportunity and platform for discussion, debate and networking.
MCI Media Ltd is committed to delivering an event of the highest
calibre, not only in-depth and informative, but also stimulating and enjoyable.
What
is the event background?
Following the huge success of the first event back in 2008 which attracted
65 participants from over 18 countries, and
the positive feedback from the second seminar last year, Ports & the
Environment is quickly establishing itself as a key industry event for anyone
involved with the environment at ports and terminals around the globe.
The huge increase in environmental awareness over the last decade has resulted
in growing pressures both politically and commercially to take
responsibility for the planet and its ongoing conservation. Governmental
restrictions must be adhered to and caution must be exercised however trade
can’t simply come to a stand still for the sake of the planet.
Hence
the environment has become an important,
if not vital, issue for ports and terminals - from ship and noise
emissions to dredging and expansion - many environmental
concerns must be taken into serious consideration challenging ports and terminals to develop and implement their own
environmental strategies.
Previous
speakers have included:
Helmepa, INTERMEPA, DCMR, Department of City Management The Hague,
Royal Haskoning, UK
What
will the event cover?
Focusing on key issues surrounding ports & terminals and their huge impact
on the environment, the
programme will explore the latest developments, technology, research and
solutions including topics
such as noise, dust and exhaust emissions, environmental dredging, port
expansion and development, ballast waste management, cold ironing, hazardous
cargo, congestion, legal framework, terminal capacity, social-eco development, environmental
control, carbon footprint and much more…
Who
is the event for?
Ports
& the Environment 2010 is
specially designed for planning and development officers, consulting engineers,
operations manager, government and local authorities officials, legislators,
advisors, equipment manufacturers, environmental officers, ship operators and representatives of ports and terminals around the world.
“Environmental
issues have become paramount to ports around the globe, it is vital
to us that we provide delegates an opportunity to talk with, and learn from,
industry experts in this field”
Claire Palmer, Event Manager.
